Mastercard is introducing new requirements to the airport lounge program
Customers with eligible Mastercard cards will continue to receive travel benefits and access airport lounges through the Mastercard Travel Pass app under the DragonPass program.
What has changed?
As of 1 September 2024, Mastercard has started requiring eligible cardholders issued by all banks, including AJIB, to conduct an international purchase transaction (outside Jordan or online purchase) with a minimum of JOD 1 annually, to enjoy unlimited airport lounge access using the Mastercard Travel Pass application within the DragonPass program.
AJIB Mastercard Cards included in this change:
- Mastercard Platinum Credit Cards.
- Prestige World Mastercard Credit Cards.
- AJIB RJ Platinum Debit Cards.
Note: World Elite Mastercard Credit Cards are excluded from this requirement as they can continue to benefit from their current travel benefits without any changes or conditions.
Steps to follow to continue benefiting from this program:
- Cardholders of primary and secondary cards should enroll into the program through the Mastercard Travel Pass app (powered by DragonPass) where cardholders will need to register and validate their Mastercard card number.
- Mastercard will monitor cardholders' cross-border spend for the first three months upon enrollment. During the first three months monitoring period, cardholders will continue to enjoy unlimited airport lounge access as per their card tier through the Mastercard Travel Pass app (powered by DragonPass).
- After the three-month monitoring period: if a cardholder spent a minimum of JOD 1 in cross-border spend during the monitoring period, then the airport lounge access will remain unlimited for the next 12 calendar months
If the cardholder did not spend a minimum of JOD 1, during the monitoring period, then Mastercard will pause the cardholder's lounge access benefit. After Mastercard pauses the lounge benefit, the cardholder may regain their airport lounge access benefit by spending a minimum of JOD 1 on their card on a cross-border transaction.
Note: Airport lounge access is extended for an additional twelve months with every international purchase transaction of JOD 1.
